What do you mostly use your mobile phone for?
Amanda: Work and pleasure
Frank: Work Calls, Work texting, calendar info, Social use, radio listening while walking.
What was your first impression when you received your Nokia N95?
Amanda: I wasn't sure whether or not it would be too complicated to figure out as it was so much more advanced than my previous phone.
Frank: Lighter than it looked and impressive feel to the device.
What did you think of the 3G functionality?
Amanda: To date I have found it extremely effective and have appreciated the speed in which it facilitates the quick download of various web/music downloads.
Frank: Not really used as at my place of work all day, where 3G coverage isn’t great but used intermittently socially, and its fine.
What did you think of the 5-megapixel camera - in particular the quality of picture and ease of use?
Amanda: The picture quality is fantastic! I never bring a digital camera out with me and since I got this phone, I have been able to capture so many memorable moments! With a click and a flash these moments are captured and can be shared with others.
Frank: 6680 was a good camera, N70 was ok, N73 meant that wife’s camera wasn’t needed when out socialising, N95 means wife’s camera isn’t needed at all!
What did you think of the GPS and maps – in particular the ease of use and the quality of the maps?
Amanda: The GPS is handy to have, particularly when I'm not familiar with the area I'm in or where I need to be. The maps are detailed and legible - exactly what you need them to be plus it isn't too complicated to figure out.
Frank: Initially I thought this would run like a halfway GPS, it actually worked very well and was very easy to use. Downloads were fast and efficient. Generally easy to use. Would be able to explain to my Dad how to use it!
What did you think of the MP3 player?
Amanda: The mp3 player is so useful when I'm out and about walking my dog or catching a bus etc. It reduces the amount of stuff I need to carry and as such is a great facility. Now rather than carrying a phone and walkman - my phone is all I need. Perfect.
Frank: Excellent
What did you think of the video calling?
Amanda: The video calling is something that I hadn't used before and didn't know what to expect. When I first used it I found the facility to be an amazing invention. I don't know if I'd use it first thing in the morning before the application of make up - but it's so handy being able to talk and see loved ones that can't be seen on a regular face to face basis.
Frank: Not widely used but it does work, primarily novelty value though.
Overall, how easy did you find it to use the Nokia N95?
Amanda: I was quite surprised how easy it was to use. Originally I had thought that it would be an insurmountable task to figure out all the features that it possessed, however well armed with the manual in no time at all I had managed to figure out the most complicated of tasks.
Frank: Very easy good wide keypad, very responsive Symbian, quickest I’ve ever used.
What is your favourite feature of the Nokia N95?
Amanda: By far the 5 megapixel camera is my favourite feature with the GPS coming in at a close second.
Frank: Weight for functionality. Should be a lot heavier for what it does.
Would you recommend this phone to your friends?
Amanda: Honestly speaking I genuinely have not stopped telling all my friends about how great the phone is and each and every one of them has turned a nice shade of green!!!!
Frank: Yes
Summarise in a few words what you thought of the Nokia N95...
Amanda: When I first opened the box and I saw the phone I didn't know what to make of it. Now after familiarising myself with it and having used it to a great extent, I can't imagine how or why I didn't get one sooner!
Frank: Quick, light, loaded with features, big screened, would like active standby plugin feature as per E65 and battery life is in reality only one day. Also calendar view on home screen only displays 4 items (6120 does more) - if you could turn off the search banner & wlan scanning narrative maybe more memo’s could be displayed. For such a big screen the amount of calendar info could be better. Video lead was a great hit though at home after videoing my wife’s concert singing for charity.
